NOV 2024 / TUTORINGListening Matters: Archiving Stories and Voices
(w/ Monja Simon for HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd)
The Listening Matters workshop, held during Laborwoche 2024 at HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd, explored listening as a critical design methodology to uncover hidden and marginalized narratives in physical and virtual spaces. Through exercises like back-to-back listening and soundwalks, participants practiced deep listening to engage with untold stories embedded in their environments. Inspired by theories from Sara Ahmed, Pauline Oliveros, and Julia Lohmann, the workshop challenged students to examine how design norms can exclude or marginalize voices and to imagine what stories objects or walls might share. Students presented diverse projects, including soundscapes, installations, zines, and podcasts, addressing themes like love, emotion, societal frustrations, and self-reflection, demonstrating how design can make invisible stories visible.

PAGE GERMANY: Generatsionswechsel
(Interview for Page Germany)
I made it into the latest page issue „on the change of generations in design“ serving as an example on the change of what design (can/should/must) do - like a focus on repair, maintenance in a multitude of ways. you can read sabines article where she collected examples of design approaches ~ from mending code to (surprise) mending socks and how this might change our perception on the practice of design. happy to contribute with my story ✨✂️🧵🪡

Designing Discomfort
(w/Monja Simon)
A Workshop hosted and facilitated at the „Laborwoche“ of @hfg.gmuend.
Discriminating norms are all around us, whether we look at white normativity of spaces, heteronormative imagery, gendered typography, or doors that only abled bodies can open. How as designers, students, and educators can we address these issues? How can we unlearn the norms and rules of the only one “good” design, deeply rooted in our education? In the workshop Designing Discomfort that was hosted by HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd, Monja Simon, Toni Wagner and their students, critically explored how specific norms and ideas about gender, race, class, ability, and sexuality influence their design practices. Inspired by Maya Ober’s „Inquiring the Academy“ methodology we sent the students to build groups and investigate the question of how to make the “invisible, visible” - Creating, Designing and allowing discomfort.

GRADUATING BOOKSHOP
(For DAE)
My little (or big) highlight of the Graduation Show: The Bookshop. A space for exchange, depth, and sharing.
So happy I was trusted with the big task of organising and curating a space where Graduates could sell and display their self-published works. It was an exhausting but joyful process. Seeing the amount of people engaging with the works and appreciating the craft by purchasing copies, was such a awesome moment.
Big thanks to the curators and DAE for their trust and the Grads for showcasing their beautiful work ✨

Loose Threads, Reclaiming Feminist Craft through Maintenance and Repair
(MA Resarch and Thesis)
This self-published Essay is the result of my Master Thesis research, where I untangled the history of female craft, its oppression, its contextualisation and relation to capitalism and how various movements (especially feminist movements) nowadays reclaim this practice as a political, transformative tool. I analysed and archived some of these movements/groups, and worked on a case study of hosting my own mending groups, trying to relate personal stories to the repair of clothing, seeing it as a literal metaphor for bodily repair.

ARENA
(w/ Monja Simon, Ceola Tunstall-Behrens, Miguel Parra, Teresa Cavalheira, for DAE GS Show 2022)
Had the big pleasure to take part in this years Grad Show of DAE during Dutch Design Week!
The Team I was part of curated and produced the Arena. This is the live public programme of the Graduation Show of Design Academy Eindhoven. It provides space for the graduating designers to present their work while engaging in conversations about the ins and outs of design.
Together with my great team we produced six panels as well as daily radioshows that build a common ground of knowledge production and brought the voices of the graduates and their researches together and to a braoder audience.
You can check the radio as well as the panels online via designacademy.nl

(w/ Johanna Denecke, Giulia Braglia, Maria Paloma, Dace Burkevica, Bhavneet Kaur, Mirano Suzuki, Ishani Chatterjee)
The publication’s aim is to archive and share work amongst the MA departments, but also to give the community and the projects that quickly got produced a stage to continue living. As it is so crucial to work for/with and in a community and therefore design mediums that give stages and voices to the bodies in place and foster a mindset of valuening even the smallest effort/project.
Big shoutout to the orga, editorial and design teams, the communicative owls, the motivated students and all the gratitude and work that brought this piece of paper alive 💜

Gender Sensitive Design
(for HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd)
A three day workshop that focused on "gender" - the term itself and the variety of topics that can occur when it is linked to design. It closely examined every-day surroudings, contexts, and behaviours to identify blindsponts and problems: where unheard stories can be found, heard analysed and how they can be integrated in a design process to design a more senstive world by identifying biases, exploringother solutions and reflecting on our own behavior and the practice of "how we design".
